2019-2021: She has finished her 2 years contract with an Indian family living in a condo. She was taking care of 2 children age 7 and 9 years old. Her other household duties included general housekeeping and cooking.

2023: She is currently working a year with an Australian family living in a condo. She is taking care of 2 children age 7 and 8 years old. Employer reference: We are an expat family of four with two young kids ages 7 and 8 from Australia. We hired Nilanka in January this year and she has been taking care of our household needs very smoothly. Duties in detail : Children-our biggest priority. She was a little shy opening up initially but we encouraged her to take time to get to know our children before everything else. She has grown very close to them now and is able to understand their interests , behaviours and needs. My husband and I do the morning school drop offs and Nilanka goes by bus to pick them and brings them home by taxi as per our request. She makes their lunch boxes and breakfast every morning for school. Cleaning-Nilanka sets her own cleaning routine of the major deep cleaning parts of the house, like our three bathrooms. She deep cleans each bathroom once per week, mops floors few times per week. Kitchen is always kept clean after cooking, vacuuming and floor sweeping is daily. When work load is low I assign her tasks such as deep cleaning of fridge, pantries, cupboard, windows etc. Laundry-Laundry is done early morning and hung outside to dry. In the evening loads are folded back into waredrobes and I have explained which items require ironing before put away. I have made it clear to do laundry early morning to utilise the sun drying outside and to also keep on top of loads. Cooking-Nilanka is an excellent cook. She previously worked for two Indian families so brings a lot of Indian cuisine expertise. She can make several types of biriyanis, naan breads, butter chicken etc. Naturally, she is an excellent cook of all types of Sri Lankan food and as our children do not eat spicy food she has been making everything very mild. While she has been with us, she has learnt many western dishes like chicken schnitzel, baked salmon, salads, potato gratin, pizza and pastas. She is easily able to follow new recipes and has always executed them very well. Marketing-Although much of our groceries are done online, occcasionally we send her to wet markets to get fish and fresh produce.
